KING CITY, Monterey County — October 27, 2026. Which streets in King City feel uncomfortable for people walking or riding bicycles? Monterey County’s Active Transportation Plan is entering another stage of public engagement, with the City of King encouraging residents to help identify routes and safety improvements.
What the city scheduled
An October 7 city announcement described outreach at Ciclovia on October 11, a King City focus group on October 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the King City Library Community Room, 402 Broadway Street, and an accompanying survey. Those dated meetings are now past; the notice does not establish how many people attended, what recommendations were adopted or how long the survey will remain available.
What happens with the input?
Active transportation planning identifies problems such as missing sidewalks, unsafe crossings, inconvenient cycling connections, lighting and gaps in routes to schools, parks and employment. Community suggestions inform future project ranking but do not by themselves approve road construction or guarantee grant funding.
Residents who could not attend should check current survey or contact instructions through the city’s project notice and ask whether comments are still accepted. A construction date would require later design, environmental review and funding decisions.
